WYD08
World Youth Day (WYD) is the largest youth event in the world and will be held in Sydney from TUESDAY 15TH TO SUNDAY 20TH JULY 2008.
WYD is an invitation from the Pope to the youth of the world to celebrate their faith around a particular theme. The theme received from Pope Benedict XVI is:
"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses." Acts1:8
WYD is a week long series of events attended by the Pope and hundreds of thousands of young people from all over the globe. It has become the largest single mobilisation of young people in the world.
The week culminates in a Final Mass celebrated by the Pope on the last day (the actual World Youth Day). Typically, it is the largest event of the week and, overseas, has drawn millions of people.
If you are not able to attend WYD in Sydney we will have Days in the Diocese's in Geelong and will be hosting a day for pilgrims in Corio/Lara . More details soon on how you can volunteer to assist with hospitality, transport or in some other way.

Youth Publishing Committee
We aim to meet certain publication needs of the Parish; to provide innovative opportunities for youth with writing and artistic abilities.
The YPC is the place to be - for teens to have their say on topics that are more interesting than the news. In our Group, we design, we write, we have fun, eat pizza, and of course have our say. If you like all of these things, come and join the YPC! It's fun and funky and it's run by teens.
To get started, we thought we might wander around the Church at Corio with a camera.

Children's Liturgy of the Word
CLOW runs during Mass regularly throughout the year.
It is facilitated by volunteers at Mass who take the Children out of the Assembly of the Church to hear the Word of God in a more child friendly fashion. The Children return to the Assembly at the offertory with a prayer they have prepared during this time.
Children in the Parish Sacramental Program are required to attend Children's Liturgy as part of their Sacramental preparation.
For further information contact Anna at the Parish house on 5275 4120.
